Why Choose Us
What Sets Our Service Apart
Old felt flat roofs typically start failing within 10–15 years — blisters, splits and ponding water are usually the first signs that the covering is on borrowed time. Modern flat roofing is in a different league: a properly installed EPDM rubber or GRP fibreglass system carries a manufacturer warranty of 20 years or more and routinely lasts longer. Where your flat roof meets an adjoining pitched section — common on rear extensions and dormers — we tie the two systems together with a dry ridge or properly dressed lead flashing as part of an integrated roofing solution, ensuring there are no weak points at the junction.
EPDM Rubber Roofs
Single-piece EPDM membranes eliminate the seams and joints that cause traditional felt roofs to leak. Flexible, UV-stable and guaranteed for 20+ years.
GRP Fibreglass Roofs
Glass-reinforced polyester gives a hard-wearing, completely seamless finish that's ideal for balconies and walk-on roofs. Available in multiple colours.
High-Performance Felt
Where felt is the right choice, we use modern torch-on SBS systems with mineral cap sheets — a long way from the cheap pour-and-roll felt of decades past.
Integrated With Adjoining Roofs
Where flat roofs meet pitched sections we install dry verge, dry ridge or properly dressed lead flashings to create a watertight integrated roofing system.
Correct Falls & Drainage
We design every flat roof with proper falls to outlets, eliminating the ponding water that causes early failure on poorly built roofs.
Insulation Upgrades
Re-covering is the ideal time to upgrade to PIR insulation board, dramatically improving the thermal performance of extensions and dormers.
10-Year Workmanship Guarantee
Every flat roof we install is covered by our written 10-year guarantee, on top of the manufacturer warranty on the membrane itself.
Our Process
How It Works — From Enquiry to Completion
Free Site Survey
We measure the roof, check existing falls, inspect adjoining pitched sections and discuss the right system — EPDM, GRP or felt — for your project and budget.
Itemised Quote
Within 48 hours you'll have a clear written quote covering strip-out, deck repairs, insulation, membrane, trims, flashings and waste removal.
Strip & Re-Deck
We remove the failed covering, replace any soft or damaged decking, install new insulation if specified and prepare a clean, dry substrate ready for the new system.
Membrane & Detailing
The chosen membrane is installed, edge trims and outlets are dressed in, and any junction with adjoining pitched roofs is properly flashed and weathered.
Choosing the Right Flat Roof System
Not every flat roof needs the same product. EPDM rubber is our most popular choice for standard extensions, garages and porches — it goes down in a single sheet wherever possible, eliminating the seams that traditionally cause leaks, and carries warranties of 20 years and beyond. GRP fibreglass is harder, walk-on rated and seamless, making it ideal for balconies, dormer cheeks and roofs that need to support occasional foot traffic. Modern torch-on felt, using SBS-modified bitumen and a mineral cap sheet, is a robust and cost-effective option for outbuildings and garages where budget is a priority but performance still matters. At your free survey we'll explain the pros, cons and price difference of each system so you can make an informed choice rather than being sold whatever the contractor happens to fit.
Integrated Roofing — Where Flat Meets Pitched
Many of the flat roofs we replace are on rear extensions, kitchen extensions or dormers that join an existing pitched roof. The junction between the two is the single most common source of leaks on this type of property, usually because the original installer cut corners on the flashing detail. We treat every flat-to-pitched junction as a critical detail. Depending on the geometry, that means properly dressed lead step flashing into the brickwork above, a continuous code 4 cover flashing under the bottom course of tiles, or — on adjoining pitched sections — a mechanically fixed dry ridge or dry verge system tying the whole assembly together. This integrated roofing approach means there's no weak link between your new flat roof and the existing roof above it.
Common Flat Roof Problems We Fix
If your existing flat roof is showing blisters, splits, lifted seams, ponding water that doesn't clear within 48 hours of rain, or damp staining on the ceiling beneath, it's almost certainly past the point of patch repair. Other common issues include inadequate falls (often the result of cheap timber decking sagging over time), failed lead flashings into adjoining walls, and chimneys, parapet upstands that are too short to comply with current standards, and missing or undersized rainwater outlets. As part of any full re-cover we put all of these issues right — lifting decking, packing out falls, replacing flashings and upgrading drainage — so the new system has the best possible chance of reaching its full design life.
